EMWD’s Sponsorship Guidelines

Post

EMWD participates in, and/or provides funding or in-kind contributions to eligible organizations and events as part of its mission to deliver value to our diverse customers and the communities we serve by providing safe, reliable, economical, and environmentally sustainable water, wastewater, and recycled water services.

This requires EMWD to balance its strategic priorities of effectively engaging in partnership opportunities that are mutually beneficial and promote improved service to the community with our commitment to demonstrate responsible stewardship of public funds.

The following sponsorship guidelines represent that balance.

A sponsorship is defined as an agreement or arrangement between EMWD and a non-profit organization or government agency where the organization receives either money or a benefit-in-kind for an event or program. If you are requesting EMWD’s bottled water for your event, please click here.

Eligible sponsorships include those where EMWD receives publicity or other benefits to help fulfill EMWD’s mission and/or strategic priorities. All sponsorship requests will be reviewed by the General Manager or his/her designee. All sponsorship requests must demonstrate the relationship between the requested sponsorship and one or more of the following criteria:

  • Raising public awareness on issues related to EMWD’s mission and/or strategic priorities
  • Building key stakeholder and community relationships to further EMWD’s mission
  • Promoting collaboration with regional partners as part of fulfilling the District’s mission

Events taking place within EMWD’s service area will be given first consideration in the event of limited funds or other required resources.

All sponsorship requests must be submitted with adequate time for review and processing.

Examples of sponsorships which may be funded include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Water conferences
  • Chamber of commerce events which feature EMWD or address topics within EMWD’s mission and/or strategic priorities
  • Water, wastewater or water resources-related educational programs
  • Water use efficiency initiatives

Each sponsorship request will be evaluated by EMWD in accordance with these guidelines. EMWD reserves the authority to terminate sponsorships that are determined to no longer meet objectives stated in these guidelines or are otherwise deemed to not be in the best interest of EMWD.

Sponsorship requests must be submitted via EMWD’s online Sponsorship Request form. Further sponsorship inquiries should be directed to PublicandGovernmentalAffairs@emwd.org.

To allow for timely review and potential processing of a sponsorship request, please allow at least 30 business days prior to any deadlines for the requested sponsorship. Each Sponsorship Request form submission will be reviewed by EMWD’s General Manager or his/her designee. All decisions will be provided in writing to the email provided on the Sponsorship Request form.

EMWD’s sponsorship program operates separately from other EMWD programs such as, but not limited to, education programs/grants, partnerships, event participation, scholarships, and water bottle requests. Requests that do not fit within the category of a sponsorship may be directed to the appropriate EMWD program for consideration, if applicable. However, requests denied by other EMWD programs will not be automatically considered for a sponsorship.
