I Spy: A Water Saving Piece of Art
Perris, CA (December 27, 2023) — A local elementary school student knows the importance of doing investigative work to find a water-wasting leak.
Brixton Rael, a third-grader at Calvary Chapel School in Moreno Valley, was recently honored by having his artwork included in the annual 2024 “Being Water Wise Is…” calendar, presented by The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and its member agencies, including Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD).
Brixton’s artwork shows a detective with a magnifying glass investigating a faucet in search of a water-wasting leak. The detective, in a trench coat and cap, is seeking out drops of water and surrounded by the caption “Save H2O: check faucets and showerheads for leaks.”
His artwork is included in the month of February. The calendar features winning artwork from students across Southern California. The contest is open to students from transitional kindergarten through eighth grade.
EMWD hosts the annual student art contest as part of its award-winning education program, which engages students of all grade levels and educates them on water and wastewater issues and promotes the water industry as an important career option. EMWD works with tens of thousands of students across its service area each year.
