Perris, CA (October 12, 2023) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is proud to celebrate Water Professionals Appreciation Week, which highlights the dedicated individuals that work to bring safe and reliable water services to our customers every day.

Water Professionals Appreciation Week was established to highlight the often unsung work of water professionals. The celebratory week runs from October 7-15, 2023.

Much goes into ensuring the public receives water, wastewater and recycled water services. More than 600 EMWD employees work to serve nearly 1 million customers each day throughout western Riverside County. EMWD employs a diverse workforce with a broad range of career fields, including water operations, engineers, finance professionals, environmental compliance and much more.

EMWD is also a leader in promoting the water industry as a viable and important career path. More than half of EMWD’s workforce will be retirement eligible within five years, and EMWD has developed programs to help attract and retain its future workforce.

Additionally, EMWD has partnered with local school districts to advance Career Technology Education programs focused on the water industry and has partnered with the Riverside County Workforce Investment Board for its Youth Ecology Corps program, which introduces young adults into the career field.

“EMWD’s workforce is committed to serving their community, and we thank each of them for their hard work and public service,” EMWD Board President Phil Paule said. “The work that water professionals do often goes unnoticed by the public, but it is critical to providing safe and reliable services that we all depend on each day.”
